This is the updated Skoda Scala, and it’s been given a styling update to keep it looking fresh in the face of alternatives like the Kia Ceed and Ford Focus.

As well as the design changes, the new Scala gets an updated range of engines. It’s expected to go on sale in early 2024, with first deliveries starting in the spring.

New Skoda Kamiq price and specs

The new Skoda Scala will be available to order from 3 October 2023, with first deliveries starting in the spring next year. As with the outgoing car, this updated model will be available in three trim levels: SE, SE L and a sporty-looking Monte Carlo version. Prices start from £22,095, an increase of around £1,300 over the current car.

New Skoda Scala SE

It may be slightly more expensive than the pre-facelift Scala, but this updated model does get slightly more standard equipment. You now get an 8.25-inch touchscreen, up from 8.0-inches, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also standard are 16-inch alloy wheels, full LED headlights and keyless start.

New Skoda Scala SE L

You’ll have to part with £23,895 if you want the mid-spec SE L model, however it’s well worth the extra cash. You get a larger 9.2-inch touchscreen, as well as a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, interior ambient lighting and 17-inch alloy wheels.

New Skoda Scala Monte Carlo

There’s quite a large step up in price for the Monte Carlo model, it starts from £27,795. The main highlight with this car is the sporty styling. You get 18-inch alloy wheels, scrolling rear indicators, deeper front and rear bumpers and blacked-out badges. There is also yet more standard equipment, including Matrix LED headlights, a panoramic glass roof and a reversing camera.

New Skoda Scala design

The new Skoda Scala has only been given a subtle facelift for 2023, with a few styling tweaks to keep the car looking modern.

Up front, the re-shaped headlights are the main difference. They have a new, more angular shape to them which makes the car look more sleek. There are also some new creases in the bonnet, as well as a tweaked lower bumper.

There aren’t many changes down the side. You have some new alloy wheel designs, ranging from 16-inches to 18-inches. You can also still get a sporty-looking Monte Carlo version with a more aggressive-looking bodykit.

There are some slightly different lights at the rear with a new LED signature, however the rest of the back end looks more or less the same as the current car. You do get a slightly redesigned lower bumper, but that’s your lot.

New Skoda Scala engines

There are three petrol engine options for the new Skoda Scala, and they’re slightly tweaked over the current car’s for a bit more power. There are no hybrid or all-electric options here, you’ll have to look at a Vauxhall Astra or Volkswagen Golf for that.

The entry-level car has a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine with 95hp and a five-speed manual gearbox. You can also have a 1.0-litre engine with 115hp, and that car is available with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic transmission.

At the top of the range you have a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 150hp. This model is available with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
