And while 7-seater electric cars are an automotive rarity, it can still be tough to know which one will suit your needs best. 1. Volkswagen ID Buzz

The original VW Bus became a cultural icon. It was also a rather practical vehicle, with some innovative features for its time.
The recently launched VW ID Buzz attempts to replicate this success in the EV age and, while it's only offered in five-seater format for now, a seven-seat version is in the pipeline if you're happy to wait. It’s going to be available with a bigger battery than the five-seater, as well as a more powerful 286hp electric motor. The seven-seat Buzz will be a lot nipper than VW buses of old.
2. Mercedes EQB

The Mercedes EQB is smooth and refined, with plenty of interior space despite it being more compact than most seven-seater SUVs. Its 66.5kWh battery pack offers a competitive 253-miles of range, and it can be had with either 228bhp or 292bhp.
But while the EQB does cost more than the combustion engined version of the same car, and the rearmost seats are a little tight, it's a handsome, premium vehicle, and one of the few EV seven-seaters not to be an adapted van.
3. Tesla Model X

If you need to cover long distances with 6 passengers, then the Tesla Model X should be high on your list. It’s extremely spacious, very high-tech and will travel up to 348 miles between charges.
Even the ‘slowest’ Dual Motor version will blast from 0-62mph in under 4.0-seconds. It is a bit pricey though, and quality levels aren’t quite up there with similarly costly alternatives. It’s a shame that you must have left-hand drive if you want a new Model X, as Tesla is no longer building cars with the wheel on the right.
4. Mercedes EQV

The Mercedes EQV may be a van-based MPV, but it’s interior looks and feels more luxurious than many supposedly posh SUVs.
The silent electric drivetrain adds to the already impressive refinement levels, and with 204bhp on tap, it’s responsive, too. The 213 miles of range should be plenty for most needs.
5. Peugeot e-Rifter

SUVs may be the flavour of the month (or decade), but for optimum refinement and practicality, a good old MPV is still the way to go.
The Peugeot e-Rifter not only offers comfortable seating for 7 occupants, but also comes with some nice tech like a digital instrument panel and active and passive driver aids. It will go 172 miles on a charge and can be had in a long-wheelbase version if you need even more space.
6. Mercedes EQS SUV

The EQS comes packed with the latest tech, as you'd expect from the brand's biggest EV. Power options range between 360hp ad 540hp, and the range figure is a maximum of 365 miles.
All models get adaptive air suspension, and the impressive new hyperscreen infotainment system is an optional extra. Luxurious, spacious and a very lovely place to sit, the EQS SUV - not to be confused with the saloon EQS - comes with a six-figure price tag that's commensurate with its talents and position at the top of the market.
7. Citroen e-SpaceTourer

The Citroen e-SpaceTourer is a versatile electric-powered van that can be configured to seat, 5-, 7- or even 8 occupants.
The seats can also fold flat to create a massive load space. It promises up to 143-miles of range from its 50kWh battery, and will charge from 0-100% in just 7.5 hours using a home wallbox.
8. Volvo EX90

Volvo has been producing cutting-edge hybrid and electric cars for a while now, and the upcoming EX90 SUV is their next-generation luxury EV coming later this year.
A 107kWh battery pack promises to deliver up to 373 miles of range, while power outputs will range between 408-517bhp. Pre-order yours now before everyone else does.
10. Nissan e-NV200 Combi

Going electric can be a great way to save on running costs and buying used can help lower your monthly payments, too.
The now out of production Nissan e-NV200 was first launched in 2014 and it certainly looks its age, while the interior isn't up there with modern models. But used examples can be found for good prices, and post-2018 models got a bigger battery pack extending the range to 120-miles.
