The new Audi Q6 e-tron has been spotted testing, and more design details can be seen through the disguise. This new electric SUV will be an alternative to the Ford Mustang Mach-E, as well as the forthcoming Porsche Macan EV.

It’ll be based on the same platform as the Audi A6 e-tron concept, meaning it will have a 100kWh battery and up to 400 miles of range.

When will the new Audi Q6 e-tron go on sale?

The new Audi Q6 e-tron is expected to go on sale in the spring of 2024, slightly ahead of the A6 e-tron saloon. Pricing hasn’t been announced just yet, however expect it to start from around £60,000.

New Audi Q6 e-tron interior and infotainment

Audi has pulled the covers off the new Q6 e-tron’s interior, and it gets a raft of all-new technology which you won’t have seen on other models in the range.

The highlight of this cabin is the new “Digital Stage” infotainment system. Wrapped around the driver is a single glass panel housing an 11.9-inch digital driver’s display and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The person riding shotgun gets their own 10.9-inch touchscreen, and they can use it to help the driver with things like setting the navigation system and changing radio stations. This display also has a privacy screen so the passenger can watch movies without distracting the driver.

Also new for the Audi Q6 e-tron is an optional augmented reality head-up display. It’s been designed to make it look like it’s 200 metres ahead of the driver and projects things like navigation directions and speed limit signs onto the road ahead, keeping all of your vital information in your direct eyeline.

You have a selection of posh-looking new fabrics around the interior, and they’re made using recycled materials. Go for an S-Line model and you can have Dinamica on the seats, which is a suede-like covering, or you can have Nappa leather. There’s a choice of wood, brushed aluminium or painted metal for the dashboard trim.

New Audi Q6 e-tron design

These teaser images are your best look yet at the new Q6 e-tron’s styling. It’s an all-new design from Audi, although there are a few styling cues carried over from other models.

That blanked-off front grille looks similar to the one found on the smaller Audi Q4 e-tron, however the headlight design is new. You now have the daytime running lights mounted above the main beams, which are semi-hidden lower down in the bumper.

The side profile is a bit more curvy than other SUVs in the range, with a sloping roofline lending it a slightly more sporty appearance. You can see some chunky side skirts, and the contrasting black roof is likely to remain on the final car.

There’s a full-width LED light bar at the rear, and you can change the LED signature from the infotainment system to personalise your car. The large roof spoiler ties together the sporty look of this electric SUV, as does the diffuser in the lower bumper.

New Audi Q6 e-tron batteries and range

The new Audi Q6 e-tron will be based on a new platform called the PPE. Don’t panic, it’s got nothing to do with goggles or face masks, in this case it stands for Platform Premium Electric. It’s the same setup which will underpin the new Porsche Macan EV and Audi A6 e-tron saloon.

This means it will have a 100kWh battery. In the new Audi A6 e-tron, this gives 435 miles of range. Being a boxy SUV, the Q6 e-tron is likely to get closer to 400 miles.

Motor options are predicted to be shared with the A6 e-tron as well. These include single and dual motor variants, possibly with as much as 476hp and 800nm of torque. It’s predicted that the Q6 e-tron will have an 800-volt electrical system that’ll be able to charge from flat to 80% in just 25 minutes.

It’s likely the Q6 e-tron will use the same 100kWh battery as the A6 e-tron (concept pictured)
