The new Honda e:Ny1 is the brand’s second pure-electric car after the Honda e, and it’ll go on sale in October this year.

This alternative to the Peugeot e-2008 and Vauxhall Mokka Electric is essentially an EV version of the HR-V, and it starts from £44,995.

How much does the new Honda e:Ny1 cost?

The new Honda e:Ny1 will start from £44,995 when order books open in October, and there will be two trim levels to choose from: Elegance and Advance. First deliveries of this new SUV will start in January 2024.

New Honda e:Ny1 Elegance

Entry-level Elegance models start from £44,995, around £15,000 more than the hybrid-powered HR-V. For this you get plenty of equipment including a 15.1-inch infotainment system, keyless entry and start, heated front seats and a reversing camera.

New Honda e:Ny1 Advance

Stepping up to the Advance model will set you back £47,195. Splashing the cash gets you extra goodies such as a heated steering wheel, power tailgate, panoramic glass roof and a 360-degree parking camera.

New Honda e:Ny1 design

If you feel like the new Honda e:Ny1 looks familiar, that’s probably because it’s heavily based on the Honda HR-V.

There are some details to separate this EV from its hybrid stablemate, starting up front with the lack of a grille. The e:Ny1 gets a blanked-off front end with a panel hiding the charging port. You also get a different lower bumper than the HR-V with fewer vents.

The side profile looks more or less the same as the HR-V’s, so it has a coupe-esque sloping roofline. All models get 18-inch alloy wheels, as well as shiny black cladding around the wheel arches.

The rear end is also pretty similar to the HR-V, although this car has the word Honda spelled out across the tailgate in place of a badge. The lower bumper is slightly tweaked as well, and you get the same full-width light bar.

New Honda e:Ny1 interior and infotainment

It’s inside where the new e:Ny1 separates itself from the petrol-powered HR-V, with the EV packing a bit more technology.

The centrepiece is the 15.1-inch portrait touchscreen in the middle, something you don’t get in the HR-V. You also get a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display as standard, and you get buttons for the gear selector rather than a lever.

New Honda e:Ny1 motors and performance

All versions of the new Honda e:Ny1 come with a single motor on the front axle putting out 204hp and 310Nm of torque. It’ll do 0-60mph in 7.6 seconds, over two-seconds faster than the Peugeot e-2008.

New Honda e:Ny1 batteries and range

You get a 68.8kWh battery in the new Honda e:Ny1 with 256 miles of range. That’s four-miles more than the Peugeot e-2008, however it’s around 30 miles less than the Kia Niro EV can manage.

Charging-wise, the e:Ny1 can charge at up to 78kW on a DC fast charger, allowing you to go from 10-80% in 45 minutes and add 60 miles of range in 11 minutes.
