Car changing is a big deal
The facelifted Kia Sorento has made its debut at the LA Auto show, and the family SUV has some snazzy new styling. Read on for all you need to know.

This is the updated Kia Sorento, and the three-row SUV gets a pretty significant styling overhaul with design cues from the new Kia EV9.
It’s only been revealed in the USA so far, and official European specs are yet to be announced, but it’ll retain its hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines and new interior tech is also expected.
New Kia Sorento design
This is your first proper look at the facelifted Kia Sorento, but keep in mind that it’s the US spec car. This means subtle details may change when it comes to Europe, such as the amber daytime running lights which will probably be white here in the UK.
The big changes some up front, where you’ll find completely different headlights to the outgoing car which have an upright shape like the EV9’s. You also have some slick daytime running lights which flow neatly into the bonnet, and the grille has a wider and more imposing shape than before.
Changes down the side are less dramatic, with the Sorento retaining the same boxy dimensions as before. The rear end has been smartened up with some new taillights, and the lower bumper has been tweaked as well.
New Kia Sorento interior
There’s some new tech to be found inside the updated Kia Sorento, with the infotainment system being the main highlight. The outgoing car had a pretty dated-looking central screen, whereas this new car has a slick panel across the dashboard with two screens integrated into it just like the Kia EV9.
The climate controls have also been replaced with the touch sensitive panel you’ll find in the Kia Sportage, and the upright vents from the old car are gone with horizontal ones spanning the dashboard in their place.
New Kia Sorento engines
No specific details have been revealed about the engine options for this new Kia Sorento in the UK, however the lineup is likely to remain the same as the current cars. This means a choice between a 1.6-litre petrol hybrid with 226hp, a 1.6-litre petrol plug-in hybrid with 261hp and an all-electric range of 35 miles, or a 2.2-litre diesel.

The diesel has 190hp in the current car, however the new version may get the same mild hybrid assistance from other Kia models to boost power and efficiency.
When will the new Kia Sorento go on sale?
The new Kia Sorento is predicted to make its debut in early 2024, however pricing hasn’t yet been confirmed.
It’s likely to be a touch more expensive than the current car though, with a starting price of over £50,000 to be expected.
