The new Lamborghini Urus hybrid has been spotted testing. It’s expected to share parts with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, and it’ll go on sale in 2024. Read on for all you need to know.

A new version of the Lamborghini Urus has been spotted testing, and it’s a plug-in hybrid which will share parts with the recently-revealed Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid.
This new electrified model is likely to go on sale in 2024 as part of the brands strategy to reduce overall emissions.
New Lamborghini Urus hybrid engine and motors
Lamborghini is aiming to reduce its CO2 emissions by 50% before the end of 2025 according to boss Stephan Winkelmann, and it will hybridise every model in the range by the end of next year.
The recently-revealed Revuelto hypercar was the first production model from Lamborghini to be fitted with a hybrid system, and the Urus SUV is second in line for this treatment. The car in these spy shots may look similar to the standard car, but look closer and you’ll spot the yellow hybrid warning stickers.
Being owned by VW, Lamborghini has access to the Porsche parts bin, and this new Urus is expected to share parts with the new Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid. That car uses a 599hp 4.0-litre V8 engine paired with a 176hp electric motor, producing a combined 739hp.

The Lamborghini Urus Performante uses a mechanically similar 4.0-litre V8 to the Cayenne, however it produces 666hp. Pairing this engine with the 176hp electric motor from the Porsche could therefore mean a combined output of more than 800hp.
This would mean a quicker 0-60mph time. The standard car can complete the sprint in 3.6 seconds, but this more powerful hybrid may get closer to the 3.0-second mark.

New Lamborghini Urus hybrid battery and range
As with the electric motor, the new Lamborghini Urus hybrid is likely to share the 26kWh battery from the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, although this has not been confirmed.
That car has up to 50 miles of range on electric power alone. Seeing as the Urus is likely to be a similar weight to the Cayenne, expect to see around the same electric mileage.
New Lamborghini Urus hybrid design
The new Lamborghini Urus Hybrid has been spotted testing a few times now, and it looks like the design will be almost exactly the same as the standard car.
Up front you can see a very similar grille design to the normal car, with the aggressive-looking lower bumper also remaining unchanged.
From the side you can notice a slightly bigger difference. It appears that the nose of this hybrid is ever so slightly longer than that of the normal Urus, probably to account for all the extra hybrid gubbins under the bonnet.
The rear looks unchanged though. You still get four massive exhaust tips, as well as the slim LED tail lights. This prototype appears to be missing part of its lower diffuser, so this may be tweaked over the current car.
New Lamborghini Urus Hybrid : when can I buy one?
Stephan Winklemann has promised that every Lamborghini model will be hybridised in some way by the end of 2024, so you may see a reveal of this plug-in Urus by the end of this year, with sales starting in early 2024.
As for price, it’s hard to put a number on it at this stage. Currently the most expensive Urus you can buy is the new Performante, that car starts at £209,000. Being more powerful, this hybrid may even be a touch more expensive than this, getting close to £220,000.
