New Peugeot 3008 revealed: SUV gets all-electric power for the first time

Peugeot has pulled the covers off the all-new e-3008. It’s the first time this family SUV has been offered as a pure EV, and it has up to 435 miles of range. Read on for all you need to know.

This is the all-new Peugeot e-3008, an all-electric coupe-SUV to provide an alternative to the Kia EV6 and Volkswagen ID5. It gets a radical new design, both inside and out, and there’s plenty of new interior tech.
There’s also a range of all-new batteries and motors underneath, providing up to 435 miles of range and there’s a dual-motor version with 320hp.
New Peugeot e-3008 design
When the current Peugeot 3008 was first revealed, it was lauded as one of the best-looking family SUVs on the market. Well this new one has moved the game on even further.
The front end features some slim LED headlights which are blended into a trim panel across the bonnet, making them pretty well-hidden. Lower down you have the three-claw LED light design which we’ve come to expect from Peugeot, and the grille has a similar body-coloured chequer pattern as the recently-revealed Peugeot 208 facelift.
Where this car differs most from its predecessor is from the side, where it has a more coupe-esque shape than the current 3008. The sporty sloping roofline makes this car stand out from the SUV crowd, as do the complex creases down the side.
The rear end gets some sleek-looking LED headlights integrated into a black trim panel, and there’s a pretty big roof spoiler as well. The gloss black trim on the lower bumper provides a nice contrast, and there are no fake vents to be seen here.
New Peugeot e-3008 interior and infotainment
The theme of ultra-modern design continues when you step inside the new Peugeot e-3008, with the latest iteration of Peugeot’s i-Cockpit infotainment setup.
The French brand is sticking to its guns with the small steering wheel, and now you have a floating 21-inch screen on top of the dashboard with customisable shortcut buttons within the driver’s reach.
That screen houses the digital driver’s display and infotainment system in one unit, and there are some physical shortcut buttons for the climate control and driving modes. In front of the driver is an all-new steering wheel with some touch sensitive buttons.
It’s a very sporty-looking cabin for a family-friendly SUV, with the sweeping centre console separating the driver and passenger. There is also some funky-looking fabric around the place, and there are eight different ambient lighting colours to choose from as well.
New Peugeot e-3008 batteries and range
The new Peugeot e-3008 gets an all-new range of batteries which haven’t been used on other models before. There are two to choose from: a 73kWh unit or a whopping 98kWh pack in the Long Range model.
If you go for the 73kWh battery you get 326 miles of range, and it’s the same whether you go for the single or dual-motor version. That’s around the same as the Volkswagen ID4, and it’s 43 miles more than you get from the basic rear-wheel drive Tesla Model Y.
The Long Range model gets a massive 98kWh battery with an impressive 435 miles of range. For context, that’s just under 30 miles more than you get from the Polestar 2 Long Range, and it’s over 100 miles more than you get from the Tesla Model Y Long Range.
As for charging, all models come with 160kW DC fast charging as standard. That allows you to top up from 10-80% in 30 minutes if you go for the smaller battery, and the Long Range can do it in 27 minutes.
New Peugeot e-3008 motors and performance
As well as all-new batteries, the new Peugeot e-3008 also comes with three new motor options for the brand.

The entry-level model comes with a single electric motor powering the front wheels, producing 210hp. That’s 16hp less than you get in a base Kia EV6, however it’s 30hp more than the equivalent Skoda Enyaq. 0-60mph is dealt with in 8.7 seconds.
Go for the Long Range version and you still get a single motor, only now it has 230hp. Despite the increase in power, the 0-60mph time goes up to 8.9 seconds thanks to the larger battery’s extra weight.
If it’s a hair-raising turn of speed you’re after, there’s also a dual-motor version with 320hp. That’s almost exactly the same as you get in the dual-motor version of the Kia EV6, and it’s even 20hp more than you get from the sporty Skoda Enyaq vRS.
The added power drops the 0-60mph time to 6.4 seconds, one tenth of a second quicker than the Enyaq vRS but just over a second slower than the EV6.
When will the new Peugeot 3008 go on sale?
Peugeot has confirmed that the new e-3008 will go on sale in February 2023, so expect to start seeing cars in driveways in early spring. There’s no official word on price yet, however you can expect it to fetch a premium over the outgoing car. You may see a figure of around £40,000, however this hasn’t been confirmed.
