Polestar has revealed its fastest model to date with the reveal of its coupe-SUV Polestar 4.

Offered with both a single and dual-motor setup, the 4 sits between the 2 hatchback and forthcoming 3 SUV that arrives in the UK later this year – in terms of both space and price.

Polestar 4 design

Previewed by the Precept coupe concept, the Polestar 4 has sleek, angular styling at the front with a dual-headlight design and a large cut out for the lower grille. The front-facing camera is mounted in the front grille under a lip in the facia.

Down the side, you can see the sloping roof design from the B-pillar back, at which point it deviates from the more practical 3 SUV. Wheels go from 20 to 22 inches in size and you can choose between Pirelli or Michelin tyres.

The rear design is neat, much like the rest of the car. You get a full-width rear light bar that angles down either side, while there’s black lower trim detail and a sporty rear design. You’ll also notice the lack of a rear window. This allows the glass roof to stretch back over the rear seat occupant’s heads, as well as making the car’s chassis stiffer. Don’t worry, you get a digital rear view mirror so you can see out of the back.

Polestar 4 interior

Polestar is known for designing minimalist interiors and the 4 continues that trend. It has lots of straight lines with simple angles, while you get two large, clear displays and sports seats trimmed in recycled material upholstery.

You’ll also be bathed in light from a full-length glass roof that can optionally come with electrochromic shading which can block out the sun without the need for a blind, while the central armrest has large storage space underneath it. You also get a screen instead of a rear-view mirror, with the feed coming from a camera mounted at the rear of the car.

In the back, the roofline has the potential to impede on headspace a little, but to make up for this rear passengers get a screen to control the climate control, instead of conventional buttons.

You get 500 litres of boot space in the, while there’s a small 15-litre load space under the bonnet – ideal for storing your charging cables.

Polestar 4 motors and batteries

The new Polestar 4 is the fastest production model from the Swedish brand so far. In the Performance version you get two motors developing 544hp and 686Nm of torque, getting you from 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds. It goes on to reach 124mph.

See what Mat makes of the Polestar 2 in the video below…

The single motor version has the motor mounted to the rear axle, and has 272hp and 343Nm of torque. This version of the 4 can go from 0-60mph in 7.4 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 112mph.

Despite both being labelled as long range models, the battery with 94kWh of usable capacity gives you up to 300 miles of range in the single motor version. With the dual-motor performance model, you get up to 270 miles.

When charging, you can replenish at up to 200kW on DC charging, while you can charge at 22kW on an AC charger.

Polestar 4 prices and specs

Sitting between the 2 and the 3, Polestar has put the 4’s starting price slap bang in the middle of them. Prices start from £55,000, with the models coming to European roads in early 2024.

You can choose from multiple packs, including the Performance Pack, which adds Brembo brakes, performance tuning to the chassis and gold details throughout the car.
